Our History

Founded in 1977, the New Land Trust began as the inspiration of SUNY Plattsburgh students and friends. In combined effort the group purchased an old farm as an experiment in cooperative land management. Today the NLT is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that exists for the community and is supported through private donations. With 281.5 acres of native plants and natural habitats and dozens of trails the New Land Trust is a gem of recreational opportunity just waiting for you to come and explore yourself!

Open from dawn to dusk, the public is welcome to visit and use this space for outdoor recreation and educational activities!
